The War Memorial Library in Hudson is a non-profit registered charity providing a subscription library of printed and digital materials, primarily in the English language, to the residents of Hudson, Quebec and surrounding communities.Operated by volunteers, the Library is self-financing through membership fees, donations and fund raising activities. The Library in turn donates, to local charities, funds in excess of its own needs.The building and the Library serve as a memorial to those in Hudson who served in the Canadian Armed Forces.

The Write Stuff - Kenneth Bonert

Kenneth Bonert was was born in Johannesburg in 1972, and he emigrated to Toronto in 1989 with his parents. He studied Journalism at Ryerson University, and went on to work as a reporter for the Globe and Mail. His first award-winning novel The Lion Seeker was published in 2013, and the library has just received a copy of his new novel, The Mandela Plot. Set in South Africa in the late 1980s, as the apartheid regime is coming to an end, it tells the story of a Jewish immigrant family struggling with secrets from the past, as the country is torn apart by political violence. Hudson Box Office (HBO) - Unforgotten

Unforgotten is an award winning, and critically acclaimed British crime drama television series written by Chris Lang. The programme follows two London detectives, DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker), and DCI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Baskhar) as they solve cold cases of murder and disappearance. The series introduces seemingly unconnected characters, who are gradually revealed to have some connection with the victim. The Write Stuff - Rawi Hage

Rawi Hage is a Lebanese-Canadian writer and photographer based in Montreal. His first two novels, De Niro's Game and Cockroach, were both nominated for the Giller Prize and The Governor General's Literary Award. The Library has just received a copy of his latest award-winning novel, Beirut Hellfire Society. Set in Beirut in the war torn 1970s, it tells the story of Pavlov the son of a dead undertaker, who arranges secret burials for people deemed an outcast because of their atheism or other beliefs.Combining comedy and tragedy it's a brilliant, urgent meditation on what it's like to live through war. Hudson Box Office (HBO) - X Company

X Company is a Canadian-Hungarian spy thriller television series, created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern. The series takes place during World War II, and follows five recruits as they are trained as agents at a secret Canadian training facility, Camp X near Lake Ontario east of Toronto, and then sent out into the field in Europe. Murder Ink - Mindy Mejia



Mindy Mejia was born and raised in a small-town-turned-suburb in the Twin Cities area. She received a BA from the University of Minnesota and an MFA from Hamline University.  Mejia writes what she likes to read: contemporary, plot-driven books that deliver both entertainment and substance. She is the author of The Dragon Keeper and Everything You Want Me To Be (in our collection).  The library has acquired her most recent novel, Leave No Trace, which follows the mysterious disappearance of a boy and his stunning return ten years later.

David Bell is an award-winning American author. He is an associate professer of English at Western Kentucky University, where he directs an MFA in creative writing. The library has just acquired a copy of his latest novel, Somebody's Daughter : Michael Frazier's ex-wife Erica unexpectedly turns up on his doorstep, and drops a bombshell that her ten year old daughter is missing, and he is the father.
