Technology Help Desk - Update

The testing period of the Technology Help Desk is now over.  While very popular when launched in May, there have been less queries recently.  Rather than have our Techie Wizards on-site every Monday afternoon and every Thursday evening patiently waiting to solve your technical problems or simplify the use of your device, we propose a one-on-one approach moving forward.  To reserve a 30-minute session, simply e-mail us at warmemoriallibrary@gmail.com and confirm your preferred day – Monday afternoon or Thursday evening – and your preferred time.  We will do our best to accommodate your choice.

We also plan to provide tips on a regular basis.  Stay tuned for more information.  In the interim, take a peek at our first tip below.

Technology Help Desk - Tip #1

Are you having problems with iPad/iPhone storage?

To find out what is taking up all the space:
1.  Go to SETTINGS app
2.  Tap on GENERAL, left-hand column
3.  Scroll down to iPAD STORAGE and tap on it
  • The first row will show an image with how much storage space you have left and how it is divided – photos, apps, mail, books, etc.
  • Scroll down to the app section.  You will see how much space each app takes on your iPad. Delete apps that you never use as they are taking up space.
  • Another option is to use iCloud to store your photos.

Cindy Johnston

The members of the War Memorial Library would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Cynthia Johnston.
Cindy, as we all knew her, passed away on June 21. She was one of our longest serving members and an intricate part of every aspect of the library. Over the years she took care of our membership, worked on inventory and expertly covered hundreds of books.
We, at the library, will remember her for her love of books, the hours she spent helping to keep the library running and her beautiful smile when she greeted one and all.

Murder Ink - Robert Galbraith

Robert Galbraith is a pseudonym of J.K. Rowling.  After Harry Potter, the author chose crime fiction for her next books, a genre she has always loved as a reader.  She wanted to write a contemporary whodunit, with a credible back story.
Galbraith’s debut into crime fiction garnered acclaim amongst critics and crime fans alike.  The first four novels The Cuckoo’s Calling (2013), The Silkworm (2014), Career of Evil (2015) and Lethal White (2018) all topped the national and international bestseller lists.  The first three books in the Strike series have been adapted for television.
The library has all four novels in its collection.
