The Write Stuff - Rawi Hage

Rawi Hage is a Lebanese-Canadian writer and photographer based in Montreal. His first two novels, De Niro's Game and Cockroach, were both nominated for the Giller Prize and The Governor General's Literary Award. The Library has just received a copy of his latest award-winning novel, Beirut Hellfire Society. Set in Beirut in the war torn 1970s, it tells the story of Pavlov the son of a dead undertaker, who arranges secret burials for people deemed an outcast because of their atheism or other beliefs.Combining comedy and tragedy it's a brilliant, urgent meditation on what it's like to live through war. Hage lives with his partner the author Madeleine Thien. For more details click here
