The Write Stuff - Bernardine Evaristo

Bernardine Evaristo is a multi-award winning British author whose work spans many genres including novels, poetry, essays, literary criticism and radio and theatre drama. Born in South-East London to a British mother and Nigerian father, she obtained a PHD in Creative Writing from the University of London,and she is Professor of Creative Writing at Brunel University, London. The library has just acquired a copy of her 2019 Booker prize winning novel, Girl, Woman, Other. This is a "fusion fiction" novel which follows the stories of twelve black British woman aged 19-93. They span a variety of cultural backgrounds, sexualities, classes and occupations as they tell the stories of themselves, their families, friends and lovers , across the country and through the years. It was also one of Barack Obama's favourite novels of 2019. Evaristo lives in london with her husband. To visit her online click here.

Murder Ink - Lexie Elliott

Lexie Elliott grew up in Scotland and graduated from Oxford University, where she obtained a doctorate in theoretical physics. She worked for an investment bank in London for eight years and after losing her job during the Global Financial Crisis, began working part-time in fund management in the City of London. The rest of her time is spent writing, or thinking about writing, and juggling family life and sport.

The library acquired her debut novel The French Girl.
