The Write Stuff - Isabella Hammad

Isabella Hammad was born in London and obtained her undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature from Oxford University. She also holds an MFA in fiction. She published her first novel The Parisian in 2019 and the library has just acquired a copy. The novel follows a young Palestinian dreamer, Midhat Kamal, who picks his way across a fractured world, ( just after the first world war) from the shifting politics of the Middle East to the dinner tables of Montpelier. The character of Kamal is based on Hammad's great-grandfather. This is an intensely human story set amidst a global conflict, The Parisian is historical fiction with a remarkable contemporary voice. To visit Hammad online click here
