The Write Stuff - Elizabeth Hay
Elizabeth Hay was born in Owen Sound, Ontario. She
attended the University of Toronto and in 1974 went north to Yellowknife. For
the next ten years she worked as a CBC radio broadcaster and eventually
freelanced from Mexico. In 1986 she moved from Mexico to New York City, and in
1992, returned to Canada.
Hay is the author of the #1 nationally bestselling novel Alone in the Classroom, the Scotiabank
Giller Prize-winning novel Late Nights On
Air, as well as three other award-winning works of fiction. The Library has all her novels, including her
most recent His Whole Life.
Hay lives in Ottawa with her husband and their two

Murder Ink - Sarah Ward
Sarah Ward is an online book reviewer whose blog,
Crimepieces, reviews the best of current crime fiction published around the
world. She has also reviewed for the Eurocrime and Crimesquad websites and is a
judge for The Petrona Award for translated Scandinavian crime novels.
After years of writing professionally in a government
agency, she moved to Greece to teach English as a Foreign Language. It was in
the Athenian heat, homesick for the English countryside, that she started the
crime novel she’d always wanted to write. Sarah now lives in rural Derbyshire where
her debut novel, In Bitter Chill, is
set.

The Write Stuff - Mike Offit
Mike Offit began a twenty-year Wall Street career after
graduating from Brown University, abandoning advertising, and earning an MBA from
Columbia University. He rose to become a senior trader at Goldman Sachs, and to
head the commercial mortgage and asset-backed securities trading desks at First
Boston, Prudential, and finally at Deutsche Bank. After retiring, he returned
to writing. The Library recently acquired his debut novel Nothing Personal: A Novel of Wall Street.

Hudson Box Office (HBO) - WPC 56
WPC 56 is a British television drama series, written by Dominique Moloney and broadcast on BBC One. The series revolves around the first Woman Police Constables to join Brinford Constabulary, a fictional police force in the West Midlands,
starting in 1956. The first two series focused on WPC Gina Dawson's
struggle to gain acceptance at a male-dominated police station while
having to deal with the sexist attitudes that were commonplace at the
time.

Murder Ink - Stuart Neville
Stuart Neville's debut novel, The Ghosts of Belfast, won the Mystery/Thriller category of the Los
Angeles Times Book Prize, and was picked as one of the top crime novels of 2009
by both the New York Times and the LA Times. He has been shortlisted for
various awards and has since published three critically acclaimed sequels. Neville’s
novels have been translated into various languages and his fourth novel is
currently in development for television.
He lives in Belfast.

Murder Ink - Susan Crawford
Susan Crawford grew up in Miami, Florida, and graduated
from the University of Miami.
She later moved to New York City and then Boston before settling in Atlanta to
raise three daughters and work in the field of adult education. A member of the
Atlanta Writers' Club and the Village Writers, she teaches at Georgia Piedmont
Technical College and dabbles in local politics. The Pocket
Wife is her debut novel which the Library recently acquired.
Crawford lives with her husband and a trio of rescue cats

The Write Stuff - Emma Hooper
Raised in Alberta, Canada, Emma Hooper brought her love
of music and literature to the UK, where she received a doctorate in
Musico-Literary studies at the University of East-Anglia. She currently lectures
at Bath Spa University.
A musician, Emma performs as the solo artist Waitress
for the Bees and plays with a number of bands.
Etta and Otto and
Russell and James is her debut novel.
Hooper lives in Bath, UK, but comes home to Canada to
cross-country ski whenever she can.
