Robert Crais is the creator of the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike crime novels based in Los Angeles. Crais wrote his first Cole novel in 1985 with The Monkey's Raincoat, his most recent work is Taken published this Spring. Crais was born in Louisiana, moving to California at 23 to seek his fortune in Hollywood. He was a scriptwriter for Hill Street Blues, Miami Vice and L.A.
