The War Memorial Library in Hudson is a non-profit registered charity providing a subscription library of printed and digital materials, primarily in the English language, to the residents of Hudson, Quebec and surrounding communities.Operated by volunteers, the Library is self-financing through membership fees, donations and fund raising activities. The Library in turn donates, to local charities, funds in excess of its own needs.The building and the Library serve as a memorial to those in Hudson who served in the Canadian Armed Forces.

The Write Stuff - Yaa Gyasi

Yaa Gyasi was born in Ghana and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. She is a graduate of the Iowa Writer's Workshop, where she held a Deans's Graduate Research Fellowship. She has written several short stories and the library has a copy of her debut novel Homegoing. It follows the shifting fortunes of two half-sisters Effia and Esi, unknown to each other, in West Africa and America. Esi is sold into slavery, and Effia is married to a British slavery trader. This historical novel moves from the Eighteenth century to the present day. The New York Times describes it has" a hypnotic debut novel" .

Hudson Box Office (HBO) - The Tunnel

The Tunnel is based on the original 2011 Danish/Swedish crime series "The Bridge". This British crime drama centres on British and French detectives, who are forced to work together, when a French politician and a British prostitute are found dead inside the Channel Tunnel. They later learn that the killer, nicknamed the "Truth Terrorist", is on a moral crusade to highlight many social problems, terrorising both countries in the process. Murder Ink - Susie Steiner

Susie Steiner began her writing career as a news reporter first on local papers, then on the Evening Standard, the Daily Telegraph and The Times. In 2001 she joined the Guardian, where she worked as a commissioning editor for 11 years. Her first novel Homecoming, described as 'truly exceptional' by the Observer, was published by Faber & Faber in 2013. She lives in London with her husband and two children.
